Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that affects life quality and the wellbeing of those affected. It is a common problem affecting 1% of the population which causes a lot of social discomfort.
The commonest areas affected by this condition is the under armpits, hands and feet as they have the most number of sweat glands in the skin.
It can cause a great deal of discomfort and social embarrassment for the patient. For example, I have some patients who won’t take their suit jacket of in the summer as they don’t want the sweat marks to show on the shirt. Other people with a social type of work and lifestyle get annoyed by excessive sweaty hands as they shake hands all the time.
Contrary to the belief of many, excessive sweating does not have a bad odour as it is produced by the Eccrine sweat glands that produce large volumes of watery, usually odourless sweat and people normally don’t seek treatment for the bad smell of sweat. The Apocrine glands in the armpits produce a different think viscous fluid that, if left for a long time on the skin, produces an offensive smell due to its contact with bacteria
Botulinum toxin in a certain dilution is used to treat this condition effectively and provides excellent relief of symptoms for 9-12 months.
This course is designed to teach you the most advanced methods in treating sweat problems for under armpits, hands and feet. In the course itself, there will be a power point presentation to explain every detail of the procedure followed by a practical session.
